In order to heighten
its presence in the global financial markets and push forward its international
business expansion plans, KGI Financial Services Group founded a subsidiary
in 1994 called KGI Capital Asia Limited. ¡@KGI Capital Asia is a member of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and has a QFII Foreign Institutional Investor license giving it the ability to trade on Taiwan's stock market. ¡@ Through this subsidiary, KGI Financial Services Group can better provide diversified financial products and services overseas to its clients.
At the end of 1999, Hong Kong began operating its GEM board, thereby providing
Taiwanese companies with another outlet for fund raising. ¡@KGI
Capital Asia was proactive in obtaining an underwriting license for GEM
board listings and set up a team of professionals to provide such services.
¡@ At the same time, KGI Capital Asia has developed and maintained a close
relationship with other KGI Financial Services Group affiliates and with
overseas investment banks in Hong Kong. ¡@This
has helped strengthen KGI Financial Services Group's international underwriting
business and has helped KGI Capital Asia develop a number of innovative
financial derivative instruments.
